Issuance of import permit for Vietnam's chilli suspended with immediate effect

Last update: 14/09/2018
PUTRAJAYA, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- The Department of Agriculture has temporarily suspended the issuance of import permits of chilli from Vietnam effective today, until further notice.

The department, in a statement issued today, said that the move implemented after the analysis carried out found that more than 50 per cent of samples of imported chilli from Vietnam violated the country’s pesticide maximum residue limit (MRL).

“The analysis covers a variety of pesticides, including Organophosphate, Synthetic Pyrethroid, Carbamates and Triazole-dithiocarbamate,” it said.
