2018 land MALPHI military exercise to focus on urban warfare

IPOH, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- The Philippine military is set to share its experience of fighting in the town of Marawi, Mindanao last year with Malaysian troops during the 19th series of the Malaysian-Philippine (MALPHI) military exercise here.
Second Division Commander Major-General Datuk Mohd Ramli Jaafar said the 14-day training would focus on fighting in built-up areas.
"We have certain objectives of learning each other's expertise. Apart from that, with this exercise, we will be able to increase interaction between both parties at all levels.
"We hope we can gain some experience through this exercise, as well as enhance professionalism by learning new tactics and procedures," he told reporters after officiating the exercise today.
Philippine Army Vice Commander Major General Robert Musni Arevalo was also present.
The 2018 Land MALPHI exercise which involves 120 officers and personnel from both countries is being held at the 23rd Battalion, Royal Malay Regiment, Gua Permai Camp in Tambun here.
