JOHOR BAHRU, July 12 (Bernama) -- The monthly household income of rubber smallholder in Johor is expected to rise to RM4,000 monthly by 2020 from RM1,200 monthly at present.

State Housing and Rural Development Committee chairman Dzulkefly Ahmad said the projection could be achieved through an increase in commodity prices of rubber from RM5.50 to RM17.31 per kilogram.

He said the move by the state government to pursue the government's efforts in setting up the secretariat for rubber price fixing mechanism would also help the rubber smallholders to achieve it.

Dzulkefly was met by the media after a working visit to the Johor Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA) office here today.

So far Johor has 65,000 rubber smallholders.....
