SEREMBAN, May 16 (Bernama) -- The Movement to Save the Raja Melewar Campus Teachers' Education Institute (IPGKRM) here has called on the government not proceed with turning IPGKRM into Kolej Permata Pintar (KPP).
Its chairman Datuk Sudin Kamari said IPGKRM should be maintained as a teachers' education and training centre.
"IPGKRM is still relevant to be used as a training centre, among the reasons being cost savings in conducting training, IPGKRM lecturers comprising those who have expertise various fields, and having various facilities suitable for prospective teachers to undergo training.
"In addition to being a institution which has produced many teachers in the country, IPGKRM's identity as a centre for teacher training is well-known throughout the country. With the conversion of IPGKRM to KPP, IPGKRM would lose its identity and be a bane to thousands of former students, lecturers and staff," he said during a press conference here, today.
