PUTRAJAYA, May 16 (Bernama) -- Former Attorney-General (AG) Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail is said to be preparing to charge former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in connection with the troubled 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MBD) before he was replaced in 2015.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Abdul Gani made the claims when they met at Perdana Leadership Foundation here yesterday as he wanted to find out why the latter was removed as AG in 2015.
"He (Abdul Gani) claims he was preparing to charge Najib but you know what happened, that morning, he was deprived from his post," he told a press conference at the Perdana Leadership Foundation here today.
It was reported that Abdul Gani was removed due to health reasons, and was replaced by former Federal Court judge Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali.
Asked if Abdul Gani showed any documents, Dr Mahathir said he did not ask for any documents to be presented and the talks were merely verbal.....
