KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazhong) will once again team up to organise the two-day Red Sonata Fiesta 2018 (RSF2018), a Chinese orchestra competition from June 29.
"With the theme, "Reminiscing Fall", RSF2018 provides a platform for Chinese orchestra enthusiasts to showcase their talents and skills, " director of UTP´s Centre for Student Development, Assoc Prof Dr Nurlidia Mansor told a press conference at Wisma Huazhong, here, today.
"At UTP, our focus is to produce well-rounded students, not just those who excel in the academic field.
"So, it´s not limited to culture and entertainment, but more on continuing the tradition, and in this case, Chinese tradition," she added.
It is also an avenue to spark and increase the young generation's interest, especially primary and secondary students, in traditional Chinese music, particularly Chinese orchestra.
"Therefore, UTP would like to invite students from primary and secondary schools and higher education institutions, as well as the public to participate in RSF2018, " Nurlidia said.
The competition will be in six categories, namely Chinese Big Orchestra, Chinese Orchestra Small Chamber, Band, Dance, Choir, and Solo Competition.
