KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 (Bernama) -- Two out of the nine new electric train service (ETS) train sets have arrived in the country and are expected to be operational by December, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the remaining seven sets would arrive in stages and were scheduled to be fully operational by November 2019.
"The addition of the new sets will help increase the frequency and quality of ETS.
"There are currently 15 sets of train being used by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) for the ETS and it is not enough," she said in reply to a question from Datuk Khoo Soo Seang (BN-Tebrau) on the government's move to improve the ETS and KTM services.
KTMB chairman Datuk Nawawi Ahmad was previously reported as saying that the nine train sets that involved an allocation of RM540 million were ordered, and currently being manufactured in China.....
