10 NGOs Lodge Police Reports Over Namewee's 'like A Dog' Video

Last update: 20/02/2018
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- Ten non-governmental organisations (NGOs) today lodged police reports against Wee Meng Chee or Namewee over his controversial video 'Like A Dog' which has gone viral on the social media recently.

The NGOs include Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah (MJMM), Pertubuhan Permuafakatan Majlis Ayahanda Malaysia (PERMAS), Ikatan Rakyat Insan Muslim Malaysia (IRIMM), Gerakan Memartabatkan Pejuang Negara (GMPN), Kipidap and Pertubuhan Maqasid Syariah Malaysia.

President of MJMM Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah who represented the NGOs said the police reports were lodged as the video had angered Muslims.

"We urge the relevant authorities, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Foreign Ministry to take stern action against Namawee so that he will not do it again.

We respect their culture and have no objection if they want to make a video recording, but do not produce one which is obscene and includes a mosque in the background," he said to reporters after lodging the report at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters here today.....
