SHAH ALAM, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- Actor Mohd Azmil Mustapha Kamil who died of heart ailment earlier today was laid to rest at the Section 21 Muslim cemetery here this evening.

The 65-year-old actor passed away at his home in Section 9 at 12.40 pm.

The funeral prayer for the actor was held at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque.

Also seen at the funeral were Datuk Nasharuddin Elias (Nash), Datuk DJ Dave, Datuk Rahim Razali and Mohd Azmil's heroine in their famous 'Ali Setan' film, Fauziah Ahmad Daud.

Mohd Azmil is survived by his five children - Nur Shamira, Nur Azalea Arifah, Nur Amalia Batrisha, Muhammad Bazli Zhafri and Nur Alia Iman, aged between 17 and 34.

Apart from 'Ali Setan', Mohd Azmil had also acted in 'Mekanik', 'Suara Kekasih' and 'Driving School', before he decided to retire and to focus on religious activities, during which he was involved in the production of two documentaries titled 'Deen in Dublin Part One' and 'Deen in Dublin Part Two, shown in Britain in 2012.

Meanwhile, Fauziah said she would really miss the actor's jokes and smile the most as he used to call her 'Asmidar', the name of her character in 'Ali Setan' whenever they met.

She said their close friendship had even instilled confidence in her late father to entrust the actor to take care of her during filming overseas.

"He was a humble friendly person even though he was once a star in the industry," she said.

Another co-actor in 'Ali Setan' Datuk Seri Raja Shah Jurin Raja Ahmad Shah, or better known as Datuk Shah Rezza, said Mohd Azmil was the one who brought him into the Malay film industry.

"We have known each other long before that and he was the one who got me the opportunity to act in Ali Setan and it was through that film that I gained popularity.

"The last time I saw him was after Aidilfitri last year, and I was shocked to hear about his passing today," he said.
