PASIR PUTEH, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- Radio Televisyen Malaysia's 'Fiesta Sehati@RTM' programme will be organised nationwide to listen, feel and understand the pulse of the people, Communications and Multimedia Ministry secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad said today.
She said through town hall meetings, which is part of the programme activities, various issues, especially on development and the future of the respective states and that of the people would be discussed in a relax, jovial and interactive environment.
"The Fiesta Sehati@RTM is a platform for the government and the people to connect interactively," she said on the programme, with the tagline 'Apa Khabar Orang Kampung' (AKOK25), being held for three days since yesterday at the Uthmaniyah Complex, Kampung Pulai Lima here.
More than 3,000 participants, comprising the young people, educationists and residents in Pasir Puteh, attended the town hall today for a dialogue with Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
Sharifah Zarah also attended the town hall meeting, as well as Pasir Puteh UMNO division leader Datuk Zawawi Othman, who is also Semerak assemblyman, and Kelantan Broadcasting director Noriani Mohd Idris.
Meanwhile, Khairy, who is also UMNO Youth leader, said the town hall served as an effective platform for the government, not only to listen to the people, but also to respond to their questions.
"Sometimes, we organise huge programmes that involve a one-way talk only. Actually, we do not get to listen to what are their aspirations and fears , as well as their hopes for the 14th general election are," he said, and expressed the need for more of such a programme to be held.
Noriani said the fiesta was organised by the Kelantan Broadcasting Department, with the cooperation of the Kelantan Federal Development Department and the Semerak Assmblyman Office.
"We translate the hope and aspiration of the local community who want such a programme. This fiesta is also an expression of our gratitude to listeners in the rural areas who are the hardcore fans of AKOK programme," she said, adding that due to the overwhelming response, the fiesta would also be held in other places in Kelantan.
