TELUK INTAN, Nov 12 (Bernama) - The Selangor state government's move to stop subscribing to Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian is unprofessional and an attempt to hide its weaknesses from public knowledge.
UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said the matter should not have taken place because the newspapers are a medium in providing knowledge to members of the public.
"They are weak, split and ravaged in disputes. If the reports are incorrect, they can respond or take legal action," he told reporters after opening Arena Square Kospen, Kampung Kunci Air 4 in Sungai Manik, today.
On Nov 9, the Selangor government ordered all its departments, agencies and subsidiaries to stop subscribing to newspapers under the two publishing groups.
The order was issued via a circular signed by Selangor State Secretary, Datuk Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya.
