KUCHING, March 10 (Bernama) -- China, Russia and India are among nations which have requested for Malaysia's expertise on food standard rating and halal certification, said Halal Development Corporation (HDC) deputy president Dr Malik Musharraf.

He said Malaysia's expertise is recognised worldwide as Malaysia is the only country whose government oversees food standard rating and halal certification.

"HDC has received requests from China, Russia and India to use the standard we have adopted, namely the Malaysia Standard and Malaysia Certification which are recognised worldwide.

"When we go to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries and Arab nations, they use Malaysia as a reference because we have a halal standard that covers food products, pharmaceuticals, wholesale, retail and frozen items," he told a news conference after the Halal Park Launching Ceremony at the Demak Laut Mara Industrial Area (KIM) Sunday.

The ceremony was officiated by Rural and Regional Development Deputy Minister Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun.....
