KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 (Bernama) -- A sales executive of a goldsmith shop was sentenced to three years' jail and fined RM10,000, in default six-months jail by the Sessions Court here today for criminal breach of trust involving RM70,000 worth of jewelry.
Judge Datuk Zainal Abidin Kamarudin handed down the sentence on Choong Pow Yook, 33, after she pleaded guilty to the charge.
Choong a supervisor at Wah Chan Consolidated Sdn Bhd committed the offence by fraudulently misappropriating five gold necklaces and four bracelets belonging to the company.
The offence was committed at the Wah Chan Berjaya Times Square branch in Jalan Imbi, here, between 10am and 10pm on May 5, 2017 under Section 408 of the Penal Code which provides for imprisonment of not less than one year and not more than 14 years and liable to whipping and fine upon conviction.
The court ordered the single mother to serve the jail sentence starting from the date of arrest on May 16, 2018.....
