KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) -- Efforts will be made to forge collaborations with Muslim non-governmental organisations in ASEAN countries to strengthen the economic status of Muslims in these countries, said Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said various initiatives and programmes will be organised such as entrepreneurial and skills training courses which will be offered through agencies under the ministry such as Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL).
"We want to help the minority groups among Muslims in ASEAN countries so that they can improve their lives," he said.
Ismail Sabri was speaking at a media conference after officiating the ASEAN Islamic NGOs and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) International Conference organised by the Malaysian International Institute of Islamic Cooperation (IKIAM) here today.
He said Malaysia would also offer to become the hub for haj and umrah programmes for other countries.....
