KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) -- The Foreign Ministry has reminded Malaysians who are planning to work abroad to use proper channel and procedures set by the countries involved.
In a statement today, the Wisma Putra said these group of people should obtain a work visa first before going abroad.
"Do not be fooled by certain schemes that promise overseas employment if the work visa or permit is not obtained beforehand," said the statement, which was issued in response to a local daily report today about an estimated 5,000 Malaysians allegedly working and staying illegally in South Korea.
Wisma Putra said members of the public could submit any enquiry into the matter directly to any Malaysian representative office abroad.
