KOTA KINABALU, March 8 (Bernama) -- The Mountain Search and Rescue Team (Mosar) on duty at Mount Kinabalu has confirmed that all 130 climbers currently on the mountain are safe.

The confirmation was issued following the 5.2 magnitude earthquake which occurred in Ranau at 9.06pm today.

Ranau Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) chief Jimmy Lagung said they had received a call from the team at about 9.40pm to report on the condition of the hikers.

"I have received a report from members of Mosar who were on duty, and all climbers are in safe condition and asked to remain vigilant," he said when contacted by Bernama.

None of the climbers experienced any injuries and are currently in the process of being brought down from the mountain.....
