KENINGAU, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- The Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) is a very important entity in drawing the people's involvement to develop rural areas, said Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman.
As such he said the government remained committed to strengthening the function of JKKK, especially in the aspect of leadership and competency of a village governance.
"Since its establishment in 1962, the role and function of JKKK continue to grow until today and it serves as the eyes and ears as well as connecting the government and the people," he said at the closing ceremony of the Sabah Zone JKKK Village Governance Certificate programme Phase 3 Series 1/2018 here Thursday.
His speech of text was read out by Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
The two-day programme which ended today was organised by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry in collaboration with the Institute for Rural Advancement and Universiti Kuala Lumpur and participated by 450 JKKK chairmen.
