PUTRAJAYA, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- Over 100 religious scholars from 30 countries will be in Malaysia to participate in the World Islamic Scholars Round Table Conference on Jerusalem from January 26 to 28.
The conference organised in conjunction with MyAQSA Festival at Dataran Putrajaya, is aimed at introducing a resolution to be adopted as a new fatwa to be handed over to heads of Muslim countries for further action.
The conference to be held at a leading hotel here is jointly organised by MyAQSA Foundation, the Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia (Jakim), the Palestinian Diaspora Muslim Scholars Union and the International Union of Muslim Scholars
MyAQSA Foundation chief executive officer, Dr Noorazman Mohd Samsuddin when met after the launch of the festival by Jakim diirector-general Tan Sri Othman Mustapha, said the conference would discuss actions that could be taken by the world community and heads of Muslim countries following US President Donald Trump's declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Also present was Palestinian Diaspora Muslim Scholars Union president in Malaysia Dr Ahed Abu Alatta.
According to Dr Noorazman among the well-known scholars who would be participating were the Director of Waqf Property in Al-Aqsa Mosque, Dr Najeeh Bkeerat, Sudan Muslim Scholars Union head Dr Abdul Hayy Yusuf, Maulana Sayyid Salman al-Husaini al-Nadwi from India, Maulana Dr Abdul Razzaq Iskandar from Pakistan and International Muslim Scholars Union deputy-president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.....
