KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has prohibited the country's Muslims performing the haj and umrah from visiting camel farms following the case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) reported recently.

TH's group managing director and chief executive officer, Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah said the ban on visits to camel farms had been issued since July 2015 by the Health Ministry and that Malaysia still maintained the ban.

He said TH and the Health Ministry had always worked together to enhance awareness and understanding related to MERS-CoV to the pilgrims as well as preventive measures during the haj courses conducted nationwide.

"TH has also ensured that there would be no 'ziarah' programmes to camel farms in the Holy Land since the ban was issued," he said in a statement, here, today.

Johan said TH also called on umrah and haj pilgrims and private umrah companies to comply with the ban on visits to camel farms to prevent them from contracting MERS-CoV.....
