Thailand's General Election Date Will Follow Roadmap - PM Prayut

BANGKOK, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- The date for Thailand's long-awaited general election will only be announced after the government completes enacting all the organic laws related to the elections.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha who told reporters this today, said the date of the general election needed to follow the roadmap laid out by the government.

"It depends on the organic laws (related to the general election). The election date will be announced after the completion of the organic laws," he said after chairing the weekly cabinet meeting, here.

He was asked on the worry expressed by certain quarters in the country that the general election would not be held in November as announced by Prayut late last year.

The prime minister was quoted as saying that the general election which would mark Thailand's return to the democratic system, would be held in November, 2018.....
