Last update: 03/01/2018
LUMUT, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- Two divers of the Royal Malaysian Navy rescued a fisherman who had fallen into the sea in Lumut waters near the RMN base here today.

The fisherman, Tan Ah Seng, had been thrown overboard due to a malfunctioning steering wheel at 8.55 am and his shouts for help drew the attention of the RMN personnel aboard the naval vessel KD Sri Indera Sakti, said Western Armada Command Headquarters operations chief of staff Capt Azman Rabani.

Tan was rescued by divers Norshadaan Ab Ghani and Firdaus Yunus after a rescue buoy was hurled into the water, he said in a statement.

Azman said Tan, who hailed from Pangkor Island, was administered first aid by the crew and after verifying that he was stable, he was allowed to be brought to shore by other fishermen at about noon.
