KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Embassy in Santiago, Chile organised the 'Malaysian Night Market' for the first time at the embassy's grounds in Santiago on Thursday to introduce Malaysian cuisine and culture.
The embassy, in a statement today, said more than 400 guests attended the night market which started from 2 pm until 7 pm.
"Guests presented were treated to Malaysian favourites such as satay; fried rice; fried noodles; banana and sweet potato fritters; popiah, a type of spring roll; ondeh-ondeh, a type of traditional dessert; tosai; air batu campur (ABC), a sieved ice dessert and 'teh tarik', Malaysia's signature tea drink.
Also being promoted were Malaysian products exhibited by Matrade Office in Santiago," said the statement.
It added guests were also entertained to kompang performance by the Malaysian Ambassador to Chile Datuk Dr Mohamad Rameez Yahaya and embassy officials with the rendition of songs such as 1M4U, Rasa Sayang Hei, Puteri Santubong as well as Spanish Chilean songs besides Malaysian martial arts performance by the Malaysia Silat Association of Chile.....
