KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) -- Where Raja Azura Raja Mahayuddin is concerned, the most rewarding part of her job as chief executive of the Bumiputera Education Steering Foundation (Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera) is seeing the happy faces of the young people in whose lives the foundation has made a huge difference.
"No words can describe how I feel when I see how successful they have become despite their poverty-stricken, kampung backgrounds. Today, they are all working for leading companies and earning a good income," she said, her voice choked with emotion.
The foundation (better known as Yayasan Peneraju) was set up on Feb 14, 2012, as an initiative under the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Programme.
Focusing on strengthening capacity building among the bumiputeras, Yayasan Peneraju offers educational funding programmes to students from socially disadvantaged households or who have disabilities.
The foundation comes within the purview of the Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju) under the Prime Minister's Department.....
