PAYHALAL APPOINTED AS TITHE COLLECTION AGENT OF PPZ-MAIWP
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 -- PayHalal, the world’s first Shariah-compliant payment gateway, has been appointed as a zakat (tithe) collection agent by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP) for the federal territories.
In a statement today, PayHalal said this would also make it the world's first Shariah-compliant cashless channel enabled to collect zakat.
PayHalal's operator, Souqa Fintech Sdn Bhd group deputy general manager Muhammad Sulwan Mohamed Subhan said it would help PPZ-MAIWP to realise its collection target of RM1 billion by 2023.
“PayHalal will assist PPZ-MAIWP to maximise their outreach, while making zakat payment convenient and just a click-away,” he added.
PayHalal will, among others, mobilise quick response codes (QR codes) for most of the major mosques in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, in line with PPZ-MAIWP’s aspiration to make known the Federal Territories as ‘Wilayah Berzakat’
