KFC DRIVE-THRU OUTLET TO SPUR PAGOH'S ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES

MUAR, April 25 (Bernama) -- The opening of a KFC drive-thru restaurant in Bandar Universiti Pagoh by 2020 will help spur its economic activities.

Sime Darby Property Bhd chief operating officer of township development Datuk Wan Hashimi Albakri said the venture, in collaboration with QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd, would further enhance Bandar Universiti Pagoh’s capabilities in terms of providing diverse services for the community in the township.

"It also opens up opportunities for us to increase our profits through recurring revenue, targeted at 10 per cent by 2023.

“It is also able to increase value proposition of the township and meet the community's demand for quality food and beverage products," he said at the signing of a memorandum of understanding between QSR Brands and Sime Darby Property here today.

The ceremony was witnessed by Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal.

Wan Hashimi said QSR Brands was selected based on the company's brand strength and credibility as a quality and well-known product among consumers.

“This appeal will help us attract people to converge on Bandar Universiti Pagoh, making the township more vibrant and progressive," he said.

He said the initiative was also the first collaboration of its kind undertaken Sime Darby Property, while other efforts are in the pipeline.

“We aim to initiate more economic activities to increase employment opportunities for locals, as well as drive demand for our residential and commercial products.

Wan Hashimi said the construction of commercial premises in Bandar Universiti Pagoh could help improve the township’s economic performance and this inclusive development would also provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
