PETALING JAYA, April 3 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) expects to achieve its revenue target by collaborating with cashless payment partners, said group chief revenue officer Ignatius Ong.

“All this is for the convenience of customers to make payments (and) to ensure that we hit the (internal) revenue target that we have set,” he told reporters after a prize-giving event here today where MAB and Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) were joint prize presenters.

PayNet is partnering with MAB on the launch campaign for DuitNow, the service that allows bank customers to transfer money instantly and securely to the recipient’s mobile phone number at online banking channels.

“We have budgeted in the collaborations with other companies, such as with PayNet, Maxis and other companies,” he said.

The collaboration with PayNet, Ong said, should be positive for MAB's revenue growth.

“We’re looking at definitely the teens in terms of percentage increment,” he said.

In December last year, PayNet and banks in Malaysia launched DuitNow, and subsequently, on Jan 8, 2019, PayNet kicked off the DuitNow Launch Campaign offering a total of RM4 million in prizes.

At the DuitNow Launch Campaign prize-giving event today, PayNet announced the winner for the first period (for transactions made between Jan 8 and Feb 4, 2019), Eric Ngu Ting Wu.

Ngu receives a RM100,000 Malaysia Airlines Dream Holiday package.

The campaign is scheduled to end on May 31, and the prize varies for each period.

PayNet is Malaysia's premier payments network and central infrastructure for financial markets.

Bank Negara Malaysia is PayNet's single largest shareholder, with 11 Malaysian's banks as joint shareholders.
