AUTOMOTIVE OEMS ACCEPT THE USE OF BIODIESEL - MARII

22/03/2019 05:44 PM

CYBERJAYA, March 22 (Bernama) -- Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in Malaysia have concurred that the use of biodiesel does not give any negative impact on their vehicles, says the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii).

Chief executive officer Datuk Madani Sahari said discussions with OEMs and vehicle manufacturers had been carried out on the B10 biodiesel programme, which involves a blend of 10 per cent palm biodiesel and 90 per cent fossil diesel, for use by all types of vehicles, including four-wheel drives, lorries and buses.

“What is important is for these manufacturers to work together with the Malaysian government on research to increase the biodiesel ratio and determine the impact on their vehicles.

“At this point, B10 is already okay and we need to move towards B15, B20 and other blends,” he told reporters after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between MARii, Altair Inc (USA) and ORS Technologies Malaysia here today.

MARii, previously known as the Malaysia Automotive Institute, is an agency under the purview of the International Trade and Industry Ministry.
