NEGERI SEMBILAN DRAWS RM2 BLN INVESTMENTS IN H1

11/12/2018 06:38 PM

SEREMBAN, Dec 11 (Bernama) -- Twenty manufacturing projects with total investments worth RM1.6 billion have been approved in Negeri Sembilan from January to June this year, says Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.

He said the services sector drew investments worth RM400 million over the same period.

"This brings the total investments in Negeri Sembilan for the first six months of this year to RM2 billion. This figure is based on investment data from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

"For the July-November 2018 period, the state government through the Negeri Sembilan Investment Centre (NSIC) received 12 potential investment enquiries for the manufacturing sector which are at a serious discussion stage.

“These potential investments are estimated at RM3.9 billion," he said at a high tea organised by NSIC and the Negeri Sembilan Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) here today attended by NSIC CEO Najmuddin Sharif Sarimon and Negeri Sembilan TNB Business Partner Division General Manager Rosita Adnan.

Aminuddin expressed pride at the achievement, saying it showcases the state as one of the investment destinations of choice in the country.

However, he said, the state government is keen to strike a balance between  economic growth on the one hand and human well-being and environmental sustainability on the other, adding it encourages investors to use environmentally-friendly processes in order to reduce carbon emissions.

Two proposals for a solar centre worth RM900 million are at a discussion stage with NSIC, he said, noting TNB has introduced an interesting programme and special new product as announced recently by Minister of Energy, Technology, Science, Climate Change and Environment Yeo Bee Yin.

This special programme could help reduce electricity bills and promote clean energy while helping to reduce carbon emissions and global warming, he added.
