KUCHING, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- Sabah wants to collaborate with Sarawak in developing the automotive industry, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Afdal.
He said the Sabah government has held several meetings with local automotive operators in the state with the possibility of developing the sector.
"Currently, spare parts plants have been developed in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and I hope some important components can also be built in Sarawak," he said after paying a courtesy call on Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud here today.
Mohd Shafie also said joint collaboration to develop the automotive industry was feasible as the two Borneo states had the human capital expertise.
During their meeting, Abdul Taib, who Mohd Shafie described as a "a close friend in the political arena”, shared his views on tackling global economic issues.
