KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- FELCRA Training & Consultancy Sdn Bhd (FTC) has teamed up with the Crisis Management Centre to deliver training and consultancy to the public sector in Malaysia to ensure productivity is not affected during a crisis.
FTC Managing Director, Rohaizat Ahmad, said crisis and disaster management had become a key area of concern for the general public as Malaysia continues on its journey to become a high-income developed nation.
"We live in an age of crisis, a crisis can hit at any time and with the power of the modern digital media it can be a national or international story within minutes. We need to be prepared to act correctly and in a timely manner," he said in a statement.
FTC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of FELCRA Bhd, a Minister of Finance-incorporated company that is under the purview of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development.
Rohaizat said recent studies had shown that productivity is immediately affected during a crisis, organisational resources are shifted and public attention is focused on that organisation and with effective training and preparation many situations can be managed before they become a crisis.
"This would have a positive effect on the people, the reputation of the leaders involved and ultimately productivity of the country," he said.
The Crisis Management Centre was established by boutique consultancy, Glenreagh Sdn Bhd, to assist governments, organisations and individuals effectively manage crisis.
Under the strategic collaboration, a full range of crisis related training and consultancy services would be provided with initial focus on pre-crisis capacity building and training.
"As such, organisations will have the skills to handle a crisis, while improving response time and ensuring the safety and well-being of the public," said Rohaizat who has helmed the growth of FTC over the past five years.
As part of its sustainable strategy to be a value-based partner to an array of industries, FTC has developed a suite of Executive and Leadership Management Programmes for middle to C-Level Executives to cater to the growing needs of corporate and institutional bodies.
Crisis Management Centre Managing Director, Nordin Abdullah, said FTC would be the exclusive delivery partner to the Malaysian government, including the federal and state governments, ministries and government agencies.
"We will engage those ministries and agencies that deal with crisis on an ongoing basis or in high risk areas that have the potential to effect the wellbeing of the people," said Nordin.
