KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia closed the morning session broadly higher on persistent buying interest, with the benchmark Composite Index moving above the 1,900 level, fuelled by improved market sentiment, dealers said.
At 12.30 pm, the key FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 10.36 points firmer at 1,793.06, after opening 3.09 points better at 1,785.79.
Gains in Sime Darby, Petronas Chemicals, Petronas Gas and Genting lifted the CI higher by a combination of 6.701 points.
A dealer said sentiment on the local market was relatively positive today, as investors took cue from the firm overnight close of Wall Street, coupled with a set of positive economic data which signalled the prospect of better global growth this year.
The overall market breadth was favorable as gainers outnumbered losers, 644 to 310, while 346 counters were unchanged, 511 untraded and 19 others suspended.....
