Malaysia's Challenge Fizzles Out In Two Squash Tournaments

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- The country's challenge in two squash tournaments - the Swedish Open and the Indian Open ended after the players were beaten by their respective opponents in the opening round, late Thursday (early Friday Malaysian Time).

In the Swedish Open held in Linkoping, Sweden, former two-time national champion, Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan who came from the qualifying round, put up a stiff competition against the third seed, Paul Coll of New Zealand before losing 13-11, 9-11, 8-11 and 4-11.

In the Indian Open held in Mumbai, India, two Malaysian players -- Ng Eain Yow and Mohd Addeen Idrakie Muhd Bahtiar faced a similar fate after they were beaten in the opening round match.

Ng put up a good fight against the fifth seed, Karim Ali Fathi of Egypt before losing 5-11, 11-13 and 9-11 while Mohd Addeen Idrakie who came from the qualifying round was beaten by the third seed, Greg Lobban of Scotland; losing 11-13, 6-11 and 9-11.
