Wheelchair Cagers Counting On Home Ground Advantage To Land Gold

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- Although Thailand always had the upperhand, Malaysia's wheelchair cagers are counting on home ground advantage to bag the elusive gold medal in the 9th ASEAN Para Games.

The national team had to be satisfied with the silver in the last three editions - Singapore (2015), Myanmar (2013) and Indonesia (2011).

Team manager Chee Chen Soon said that as hosts, the squad was targeting at least one gold medal eithier in the three-against-three or five-against-five.

"We are counting on home ground advantage to give us the edge (to win gold),"he told a press conference here today.

Team captain, Ahmad Nazri Hamzah, who will be making his third appearance in the ASEAN Para Games, echoed his sentiments and added that the players were all primed to end the gold medal drought.....
