KL2017: Park Looking At Six Gold From Malaysian Shooters

PETALING JAYA, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- National shooting squad chief coach, Park Sang-soon is confident that his charges can shoot down five or six out of the 14 gold medals at stake at the 2017 SEA Games (KL2017).

The 58-year-old South Korean said the target is achievable based on the current performance of the shooters who did well in a few local competitions such as the Tun Hanif Trophy meet and also the National Shooting Championships after undergoing a six-week rigorous training stint in South Korea in June.

"This is the crucial stage for the shooters to arm themselves with a better preparation since we know the challenge will certainly be tough during the competition days," he told Bernama when met at the National Shooting Range in Subang, near here, today.

Park singled out defending champions Thailand and Singapore as the main threat to Malaysia from achieving positive results at the 29th edition of the Games but believes that the national shooters are up to the task.

Park, who took charge of the national squad since Nov 2016, said that he believed Thailand pose a threat in the rifle events while Singapore in the 25m pistol.....
