Brunei Upset Singapore 10-8 To Clinch Bronze In Polo

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- Brunei upset Singapore 10-8 in the polo bronze medal playoff at the Putrajaya Equestrian Park here today.

Brunei who had lost twice to Singapore before were with 3-3 in the first cukka before Brunei managed to open a two-point gap in the second cukka.

Brunei team captain Pengiran Muda Bahar Jefri, a handicap 2 player was the star of his team after scoring eight of the 10 points scored by Brunei while his team mate Huzaimi Mahari scored two points.

Pengiran Muda Bahar when met after the game said that the team had improved tremendously and played better in the match.

"We met Singapore before and I believe everyone did the best they can today, hence we managed to win against them. We are participating in the SEA Games for the first time and we got a bronze," he said.

Malaysia will be playing against Thailand for the gold tomorrow.
