Three Silver, One Bronze In Swimming Today

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia bagged three silver and a bronze in the swimming events of the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games at the National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil tonight.

Daniel Lim Jun Liang won the bronze in the men's 200m breastroke after clocking two minutes 15.77 seconds.

Thailand's Nuttapong Ketin and Radomyos Matjiur won the gold and silver after posting times of 2:14.35s and 2:14.96s respectively.

Phee Jinq En secured Malaysia's first silver in the women's 50m breaststroke in a time of 31.54s.

Roanne Ho Ru'en of Singapore set a new Games record en route to defending her gold medal. She recorded a time of 31.29s.

Samantha Louisa Gin Yeo took the bronze for Singapore in 32.17s.

Malaysia's second silver of the day was won by Tia'a Fang Der in the men's 200m butterfly. He did 2:01.04s.

Quah Zheng Wen of Singapore clocked 1:57.95s for the gold while Thailand's Navaphat Wongcharoen won the bronze in 2:01.06s.

The Malaysian men's 4x100m freestyle quartet also secured the silver.

Keith Lim, Chan Jie, Lim Ching Hwang and Welson Sim recorded 3:21.79s while Singapore's quartet led by Joseph Schooling won the gold with a time of 3:17.85s, which was also a new Games record.

Indonesia took the bronze (3:23.65s).
