Members Claim PPBM Practised Cronyism

SEREMBAN, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- There appears to be no end of issues plaguing the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).

This evening, a group of 20 members claimed that PPBM led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was practising cronyism.

Group leader PPBM Srikandi (women's wing) former deputy chief Zaliha Mohamd Zakiria said the issues had caused disunity among the party members.

"...for example others get credit for other people's work, and the one who really did the work get expelled. Friction at grassroots level has long been ignored even since the party's inception," she told a press conference here.

Zaliha said Srikandi's internal problems too were often ignored by the leadership.

"If this continues, everyone will be discouraged and maybe leave the party," she said.

Meanwhile, in PETALING JAYA, PPBM Information chief Datuk Kamaruddin Mohd Nor described the action of its members who criticised the party and its leadership without using the proper channels as a subversive element to weaken the party.

"If they are a true member, whatever dissatisfaction on the decision made by the leadership, channel it to the party, not to the media," he told a press conference here.
