Annuar Praises Kelantan's Positive Attitude Towards Federal Govt

KOTA BHARU, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- UMNO Information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa today praised the positive attitude of the PAS-led Kelantan government which had openly acknowledged the roles played by the federal government in developing the infrastructure and economy of the state.

Annuar, who is also Ketereh Member of Parliament, said such an attitude should continue to be upheld so that the ?new' ties established between the state and federal governments, especially under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, could be preserved.

"I call on all members of UMNO (and Barisan Nasional (BN)) and PAS to look forward to the future so that we can work closely together to develop the 'taawun' (cooperation) as we also want to see Kelantan progresses as a developed state.

"This is the best chance to transform Kelantan (under Najib's leadership)," he told reporters after opening the Military Carnival organised jointly by Kemubu Agriculture Development Authority (KADA), Malaysian Armed Forces, and Kampung Padang Raja Community Welfare Bureau at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kok Lanas, here today.

Last Thursday, Deputy Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah was reported as saying that Najib's administration had brought more development to Kelantan compared to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's era.

Mohd Amar, who is also PAS vice-president, said this was because, at present, there exists a better ties between the PAS-led state government and the BN-led federal government despite their different ideologies.

Annuar said the East Coast Rail Line (ECRL) project connecting Pengkalan Kubor to Port Klang, Selangor; the expansion of Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Pengkalan Chepa; and several other projects were the game changer and the catalysts to new economic growth in Kelantan.

"With the presence of the new infrastructure, it is hoped that it could lure more investments to the state and create more job opportunities, especially the young people, hence reducing crimes and social problems associated with poverty," he said.

Meanwhile, Annuar said the specific manifesto for Ketereh parliamentary constituency to face the 14th general election was now 90 per cent completed.

He said it would include the construction of a new football stadium and a bridge crossing the Kelantan river.
