Flood Situation In Kuantan Recovers, Declining Evacuees Statewide

KUANTAN, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- The number of flood victims in Pahang continued to decline to 1,532 people sheltered at 14 temporary relief centres (PPS) as of 5 pm compared to 1,646 people recorded in the afternoon.

According to the Social Welfare Department's Infobanjir portal, the flood situation in Kuantan has fully recovered and all 56 victims, housed at the Seri Damai Community Hall (29) and Kampung Pahang Community Hall (27) were allowed to return to their homes.

"The number of evacuees in Pekan has also dropped from 1,299 people this afternoon to 1,238 people this evening and all the evacuees are being housed at 10 relief centres," according to the portal.

In Rompin, the number of flood victims remained at 294 people and sought shelter at four PPS namely at Kampung Pianggu Multipurpose Hall that sheltered 37 people, SK Tekek, Tioman (63), Leban Chondong Community Hall (67) and Setajam Balai Raya (127).

Meanwhile in JOHOR BAHRU, the flood situation in the state has improved and the number of evacuees at 13 relief centres in three districts continued to decrease.....
