KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- The National Welfare Foundation (YKN) has raised RM2.03 million in conjunction with the foundation's Payung Kasih charity dinner, held here tonight.

YKN board of trustees chairman Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said the foundation has raised the fund through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme in various forms by several companies.

"One of the companies, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, has donated RM914,000 for the establishment of YKN Anjung Kasih at the Serdang Hospital," she said at the event here.

She said YKN Anjung Kasih provided free accommodation to family members of patients who were receiving treatment at the hospital, who were unable to rent nearby accommodation.

"Currently there are eight YKN Anjung Kasih transit houses in several locations nationwide such as in the Selayang Hospital, Selangor and at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital, Negeri Sembilan, and thus far, 40,733 people have benefited from the establishment of Anjung Kasih," she added.....
