SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- The 36th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) concluded on a record-breaking note, attracting 2.38 million visitors over its 11-day run. The world's third largest book fair featured more than 2,600 cultural events, 400 authors and intellectuals, and 1,690 exhibitors from 60 countries, who put up 1.5 million titles on display.

A high volume of purchase books led to total book sales rounding off at USD 56,083,417 (AED 206 million) - 17 percent up compared to 2016. Both footfall and book sales figures for SIBF 2017 are the highest in the fair's 35-year history.

Cycling development programme -aims to produce more Azizulhasnis

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- CIMB Foundation ("the Foundation") today announced its partnership with Junior Cycling Malaysia ("JCM") for a period of three years (2018 - 2020) to nurture young talents in cycling, through a programme called CIMB-JCM Junior Development Programme. JCM is an initiative run by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and National Sports Council of Malaysia (MSN), to develop cycling in Malaysia at all levels, from beginners to racing champions.

Directory to profile over 4,000 companies and relevant stakeholders in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Construction Industry Development Board, Malaysia (CIDB) have jointly launched the Industrialised Building Systems (IBS) and Building Materials Supply Chain 2017/2018 Directory ("the Directory") today, which, with the contact details of over 4,000 companies and relevant stakeholders acts as a comprehensive point of reference for the construction industry particularly in the area of IBS and building materials.

Co-developed by MIDA and CIDB, the Directory details industry players in the local building materials space, including those of manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, as well relevant stakeholders; thus, capturing the entire ecosystem of local building material players in its catalogue.

The tournament will be held at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club in Shah Alam, Selangor from 4-7 December 2017.

The tournament will feature 60 junior golfers from Malaysia and 50 international players from Thailand, India, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, Philippines and Indonesia. The AmBank Group has once again come on board to sponsor this prestigious junior golf tournament for the 12th consecutive time. The Best Overall player from the White Tee (Girls 13-14 and 15-18 age group category) at last years tournament, Ashley Lau Jun Wen (category Girls A) will be defending her title for the third time, and Zubair Firdaus, who last year won the Best Overall player from the Blue Tee (Boys 13-14 and 15-18 age group category) will be vying for the Boys Category A title this year.
