PUTRAJAYA, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The Energy Commission (EC) disposed off 200 electric rice cookers with a market value of RM80,000 for failure to comply with several requirements.

Its Electrical Safety Regulation director, Mohd Elmi Anas said the rice cookers that were brought into the country from China by Nature Environment Products Sdn Bhd through Port Klang failed the consignment test set by EC when the company made an application for a Certificate of Approval.

"The items were destroyed in a storage warehouse in Puchong, Selangor," he said in a statement today.

Mohd Elmi said importers of electrical equipment needed to secure a Certificate of Approval and comply with requirements before bringing such equipment into the country.

He also reminded importers to ensure that electrical equipment imported were the same as those declared in the safety test report.....
