Police Probe Incident On Resident Assaulted By Enforcement Officers

IPOH, Sept 14 (Bernama) --Investigation is being conducted by the police on a fight involving an immigration officer and a policeman with members of the public, a recording of which has been viralled on the social media recently.

Ipoh district police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said the claim that no action was taken by the police over the incident was not true.

"The complainant (Taman Putra Indah Association secretary) only came to record his statement yesterday after getting treatment at Raja Permaisuri Bainun. So far, police have recorded six statements, including from witnesses," he said in a statement.

He said the victim lodged a police report at the Tanjung Rambutan police station last Sept 11, claiming that he was beaten by a few men, including an Immigration officer and a police corporal from the Ulu Kinta General Operations Force.

The incident was believed to have happened after the victim complained to the Immigration officer, who is said to be a member of Persatuan Silat Wariss Gayung over the poor state of its training arena.....
