Kota Kinabalu Wetlands Is Malaysia's Seventh Ramsar Site

KOTA KINABALU, July 17 (Bernama) -- The Kota Kinabalu Wetlands has been designated as the seventh Ramsar site in Malaysia.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman thanked the Federal Government, particularly the natural resources and environment ministry for continuing to conserve the country's natural ecosystems and biodiversity.

"This is reflected in the government's commitment to various initiatives such as the Heart of Borneo and the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.

"In Sabah, our tropical rainforests and wetlands are of immense value, extraordinary beauty and are havens for a great number of plants and animals.

"Hence, various conservation efforts have been put into place to ensure the management of our forest remains sustainable," he said in a statement here today.....
