UTP Bags Most Gold Medals At ITEX 2017

KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) has recorded outstanding achievement when all 32 exhibits won medals at the International Invention, Innovation and Exhibition (ITEX 2017).

ITEX2017 was held from May 11 until May 13 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

ITEX2017 highlighted the best in research works among fellow inventors and researchers globally to provide a platform for inventors to seek out potential investors to commercialise their inventions and new products.

In a statement, UTP said this achievement was a testimony of the university's strength in its aspiration to be globally prominent centre of innovation and creativity.

UTP won 23 gold, nine silver medals including two special awards.

The two special awards were the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Patron Award for winning the highest number of awards and International Federation of Inventors' Association award for Professor Dr Noorhana Yahya's research on Next generation Green and Economical Urea.

The event is deemed as the region's leading expo on inventions and innovations and the participations included countries such as Bahrain, China, Egypt, England, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Korea, the United States, Taiwan, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
