McDonald's Malaysia Fulfils Zakat Obligation Totalling RM1 Million

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- McDonald's Malaysia operating company, Gerbang Alaf Restaurants Sdn Bhd, has fulfilled its zakat obligation with a total payment of RM1 million made to the zakat authorities of selected states Selangor, Federal Territory, Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan.

In a statement today, the company said, the zakat on business was paid in December last year for the completion of one year following the acquisition of the company by Lionhorn Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the Reza Group of Saudi Arabia, on Dec 1, 2016.

"'It was paid to the relevant state zakat collection authorities based on the company's adjusted net current assets -- for the period of Dec 1, 2016 untill Nov 30, 2017, it said.
