Digital Era : Embrace And Adapt The Changes

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- Entrepreneurs should not be contented with what has been achieved by this country in its effort to drive the national e-commerce agenda but must embrace and adapt the changes in the digital era.

International Trade and Industry Second Minister, Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan, said the entrepreneurs needed to look for areas of growth to accelerate the economy, and at the same time, promote social development through job and wealth creation.

"From an economic standpoint, digital entrepreneurs can bring positive change to the way we do business, while the holistic ecosystem and value chain development established by the government will take the country to the next level," he said in his speech at the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017 Malaysia awards here, tonight.

On the Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ), Ong said it would provide physical and virtual zones for the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to capitalise on the growth of digital economy and facilitate cross border e-commerce initiatives.

With over 1,500 SMEs onboard in the first phase of DFTZ, he said, this only represented 15 per cent of the total targeted companies, whereby 10,000 SMEs were expected to participate in the trade zone.....
