PAS' President Declines To Comment On Issue Of Selangor MB's Candidates

MARANG, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- The stand of PAS over the issue of the new menteri besar candidate for Selangor is seen as inconsistent by alternately confirming and then declining to comment, which is puzzling.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang on Friday declined to comment further on the issue of nominating candidates for the post of the menteri besar of Selangor by submitting more that two PAS candidates to the palace on Thursday.

In fact, Abdul Hadi urged the media not to make arbitrary assumptions when asked by reporters if it was true the name of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was not listed among the three candidates for the post of menteri besar of Selangor which had been sent to the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

"I do not want the media to make unfounded statements and it is up to the palace because PAS upholds constitutional monarchy.

"I cannot say. I cannot talk about it anymore after I have handed it to the Sultan as I do not want to precede the statement of the palace," he told reporters when met at his residence after the Friday Lecture at Rusila, here today.

In fact, Abdul Hadi vehemently refused to name the three candidates submitted by PAS and also refused to confirm whether the original candidate, namely, the PKR president and her deputy Azmin Ali, which were decided at the PAS Central Committee meeting on Aug 17, were maintained in the list.
