SPDP Will Accept G5 But Without Conditions- President
He said the five will have to follow the normal process by applying to rejoin the party as they had been sacked from the party and that once the party had received their applications, its Supreme Council would meet to endorse and accept their applications.
Mawan said all of them were not promised any positions in the party and have to wait for the party's Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) to contest for posts and that they must understand the procedures and abide by the party constitution in the interest of the party and the Barisan Nasional.
SPDP had sacked the five, namely assemblymen Datuk Peter Nansian, Datuk Sylvester Entri, Paulus Palu Gumbang and Rosey Yunus and former Mas Gading MP Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe three years ago for subordination.
The five have repeatedly stated their BN-friendly stance despite being partyless, while Nansian, Entri, Rosey and Paulus retained their assistant minister posts in the State Cabinet.
SPDP's Supreme Council meeting chaired by Mawan on Sunday endorsed the proposal to bring back the five members.
Meanwhile, Nansian in a press statement in response to the decision made by the party's Supreme Council, thanked Mawan and the party leaders for extending the olive branch to the G5 upon the urging of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, outgoing Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his successor Tan Sri Adenan Satem and the top BN leadership.
"To us G5, we are staunch BN members and are team players and would always be receptive to such initiative for the sake of BN and to enable us to serve the Rakyat (people )better," said Nansian.
