BURSA MALAYSIA: KL Shares Open Mixed

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- Share prices on Bursa Malaysia opened mixed prompted by the weak performance on Wall Street.

At 9.37 am, the key index was 0.88 of-a-point easier at 1,868.33 after opening 1.3 poinst lower at 1,867.91.

Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing decliners 248 to 134 while 252 counters were unchanged, 992 untraded and 29 others were suspended.

Turnover stood at 425.09 million shares worth RM153.57 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index advanced 25.42 points to 17,478.71, the Industrial Index shed 0.51 of-a-point to 3,252.17 and the Plantation Index trimmed 49.79 points to 8,573.25.

The FBM 70 added 25.01 points to 14,275.77, the FBM Ace appreciated 44.23 points to 6,929.31, the FBM Emas Index went up 4.11 points to 13,029.15 and the FBMT100 Index increased 0.39 of-a-point to 12,615.08.

Heavyweights, Maybank and TNB were two sen higher each at RM10.18 and RM12.36, respectively, Public Bank jumped eight sen to RM19.26 and CIMB trimmed two sen to RM7.26.

Among actives, Compugates and PDZ Holdings went up one sen each to 6.5 sen and 29.5 sen, respectively, Sumatec edged up half-a-sen to 45.5 sen but Takaso Resources shed half-a-sen to 46 sen.
